DONOVAN MUSICAL PROJECTS COMPOSITIONS TEACHING LINKS

The members of Don Mixon Quartet has changed repeatedly over the years. Currently it is composed of some members from Hybrid Project who are local Istanbul musicians: Caner Kaptan (bass), Ferit Odman (drums) and Serhan Erkol (alto sax). The music, mostly original compositions with some standards, can be described as modern in that the forms, melodic phrases and harmonic rhythms seem to cut their own unique paths towards resolution.

On "Look Ma, No Hands!" the quartet consisted of Donovan with four Boston based musicians: Frank Wilkins (piano), Brian McCree (bass) and Alvin Terry (drums). George Garzone (tenor sax) was the guest soloist.

Among the many venues that Donovan played during his years in Italy, the Chet Baker Club in Bologna, is probably one of the most famous. Below is a gig with Fabrizio Puglisi (piano), Enzo Zirilli (drums) and Paolo Ghetti (bass).
